on wednesday i didn't get dressed. on thursday i did.

*Disclaimer: this post is a jumble of things that do not fit together and should be put in separate posts, but I am too lazy to do so.

Sometimes I think there will never be a human lazier than me.
I'm serious.

Yesterday I went for a run.
And I know you're thinking, "Abbi, that's like the opposite of lazy."
But here's what happened afterwards.

I did not shower.
I did not get dressed.
I did not leave the house.
I made a grilled cheese, then ate about 30 twizzlers, 10 laffy taffy's and a cherry sucker.
And then I watched 6 hours of Supernatural.

You guys. Have you seen Supernatural? This show is awesome.
I just started the first season. I never watched it when it first started, because back then I was a brat and thought anything that wasn't 'real life' was stupid.
(But looking backing, was Marissa Cooper shooting Trey Atwood really that realistic?)
Basically, this show is filling the void that I am about to have since Doctor Who is ending for the season.
I highly recommend it.

But then today, I made some major changes to my life.
Like bathing.
And getting dressed.
And leaving my house.
And Paige and I took a little spontaneous trip to Hastings.

Bottom line?
Whether I'm leaving the house or not, I'm feeling pretty good about my life.

weekly loves.

Nobody likes a Monday.
At least I don't, but I'm guessing you don't either.
But since I'm trying to find the positive amidst the negative, here are some things I am in love with this week:

This shirt, which I'm dying to get, since I am now officially a Slytherin!
(The back says "Or perhaps in Slytherin you'll make your real friends. Those cunning folks use any means to achieve their ends...)

Our new living room wall art, inspired by this pin on pinterest.

Bathroom dance parties with my roommates.

This song. I don't care what anyone says, Demi is my girl.

And this video.

What are you loving this week?

the hospital.

I don't know if this is too much personal information. I'm posting it anyways.

Yesterday morning I woke up with horrible pain.
Basically, it felt like someone was hitting me with a baseball bat in my lower back while simultaneously I was being stabbed with a knife in my lower abdomen.
So the decision was made pretty quickly that I needed to seek medical attention.
I went to the university health center, and after waiting there for nearly two hours with few answers, they suggested that I go to the emergency room.

After putting in an IV and taking a CAT scan, they found out that I had....
Kidney stones.
Have you ever had kidney stones?
If you have you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
If you haven't I pray you never do.
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
(And since I don't actually have a real life worst enemy, I would say my worst enemy is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. And I wouldn't even wish kidney stones on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.)

Lookin' good.

They had me stay overnight, and finally I got to go home this afternoon!
Though it was a less than wonderful experience, I will say this:
When you're in the hospital, you find out how sweet your friends really are.
I received the kindest calls, texts, and tweets. You are all the best friends a girl could ask for.

Last but not least, my dear roommate Sara decided to film what I like to call:
Abbi on Drugs.
The painkillers they initially gave me were so strong that I was a little out of it.
(She didn't know how to work my phone, so this lovely video was captured with the 8mm camera app because she thought that was the camera. So here's me, drugged out in all vintage-esque glory.)

It's a little hard to hear, but important to note that I was watching Friends, and in the episode that was on, Rachel was wearing a hospital gown. So naturally, she and I bonded over that.
It goes something like this:
-I look like Rachel. (Me)
-Do I look as good as her? (Me)
-You look better. (Sara)
-Heh. Better. (Me.)
-Brad would leave you too. (My dad.)
- I would never marry Brad.
-Brad is scum.
-I'm still mad about that.
(All me.)

weekend of kate.

I went home again this weekend, to go to a women's conference through my church and also to see this wonderful girl.

The conference was beautiful and eye-opening and just what I needed.

Friday night Kate and I went to what I believe is actually happiest place on earth:
If you're ever in Denver and craving the best hash browns in the entire world, this is the place to be.

Saturday night Kate came over and we watched the new episode of Doctor Who.
If you've watched it, let's talk.
I have a lot of feelings.

Then this morning Kate and I went to church, and my mama came too!

It was a wonderful, inspiring weekend.

look what we found.

Friday morning I got a text from my roommate:
"There's a dog on our front porch. What should I do?"

He had a collar but no tags.
And we were in love from the get go.

We named him Riggins.
(We've had Friday Night Lights on the brain lately.)

He stayed with us for hours, as we tried to decide what to do with him.
He was the sweetest dog in the world.
I desperately wanted to keep him.

Eventually we decided that if the thought of giving him up after only hours with him was hard for us, his family must be feeling a thousand times worse.

But for a few hours I got to have lap naps and puppy kisses, and pretended he was mine.

I'm a little sad.

on being a big girl.

I've always been afraid of everything.
(If you are all caught up on Doctor Who, I'm like George from Night Terrors.)

And this is the first time I've really lived on my own. The last two years I lived in the dorms, sharing a room with at least one other girl. And the dorms feel safe, because there's all sorts of locks and security and tons and tons of people around you at all times.

But now I'm living in a big girl house, and that changes things.
We've lived here a little over 3 weeks, and surprisingly, I haven't been scared.
Well, last night our sense of security was a little shaken.

Around 11:30 last night, we were all in our rooms, most of us about to go to bed, when the doorbell rang.
Irrational person that I am, no matter the time of day, a ringing doorbell puts me on edge.
Because even if it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon, if someone unexpectedly rings the doorbell, my mind automatically says, "Abbi, someone's here to kill you."
(Told you I was irrational.)

So when I'm in bed ready to go to sleep and someone rings my doorbell?
Yeah. It's all over.

We were terrified to go see who was outside, so we waited about 5 minutes, then went and looked out our front window. Luckily no one was on the porch, but we noticed a van parked out on the street that had all it's doors open.
And I don't mean like a mini van.
I mean a van that you use to kidnap people.
Which is kind of a game changer.

We've been having some weird things happen to us lately, like a man taking pictures of our house, and people ringing our doorbell at night before (though never this late.)

So we called our friend Chris, and had him come over to investigate.
While we waited for him, we heard a noise out on our porch, like someone walking around.
Yeah.

Looking back now, it's completely comical. Six girls, huddled together on the dining room floor, armed with whatever we had around us (which was really just a huge kitchen knife, an vintage rotary telephone and a lamp.)

Eventually, with the help of Chris and the local police (who actually weren't that helpful at all) we were able to have our minds put at ease.

I think sometimes it's easy to forget that we are 6 girls who live in a real house and are responsible for our own safety. We haven't always been as cautious as we should be.

Tonight we'll be double checking the locks :)

saturday night.

On Saturday night, my roommates and I had our friend Nate over dinner to celebrate his birthday.

A little background. Nate is one of my best friends and the first person who ever had me watch Doctor Who (the episode was Blink.) Though it was a few months later when I actually started watching it from the beginning, I have this young man to thank.

The night turned into a bit of a Doctor Who fan night, as it usually does when he and I get together. (Our non-Whovians friends are getting a little sick of us.)

He got a TARDIS cookie jar for his birthday...

We played Buzzword, and we were team Whovians.

Our friend Ryan thought the TARDIS was called the Tortoise at first, so he drew the TARDIS on a tortoise.

It was a wonderful night. I love my friends.

5 out of 6 roommates! Getting a picture when all 6 of us are together is proving to be impossible.

a wonderful week.

Do you ever have one of those weeks where most everything seems to go right?
That was this week for me.

In my children's literature class, we started our study on The Hunger Games. Yep. The Hunger Games.
And since all I've ever wanted in my life is to talk about THG, being told to talk about it is essentially a dream come true.
(I actually think I freaked out some of the girls in my group. Because I'm usually fairly put together when we have group discussions. But when it comes to The Hunger Games, I am fangirling monster.)

I got to enjoy some cloudy days, which we welcomed with open arms. Being able to turn the fans off in our house was a beautiful moment.

I received a kind and generous letter from a stranger.

I spent some time with my sweet roommates, laughing over ridiculous pictures of us, new and old.

I sent a little letter off to Allison :) Sending mail is FUN.

And perhaps my favorite part of the week...turning my best friend Paige into a Whovian. She'd been stuck on season one, so we finally finished it and are well into season two. If you're all caught up on Who, I suggest going back and watching it all over again. It's almost better the second time.

And tonight we'll be going to church, having friends over for dinner, and there's a new episode of Doctor Who on.

A wonderful week, indeed.
What was the best part of your week??

a weekend at home.

It was a weekend full of....

(Me forgetting my camera...)

Spending some quality time outside.

Painting, painting, painting!

Spending a lot of time listening to this, this, and this.

Watching Doctor Who on Saturday night, and thrifting adventures with my dearest Kate.

We found some real gems...
(We found some actual gems too.)

Went to see The Help (again) with my mama, and drooled over the full length trailer (!!!) for Like Crazy. I'm sick about how much I want to see it.

Then spent some time today soaking up a little sun.

I love being up at school, but there's nothing quite like going home.
